Buddha lodge is conveniently
located overlooking the beautiful Dudh Kosi valley to the south and the majestic kwangde peak to the north-west, barely fifteen
yards away from Lukla’s sloppy airstrip running down the hill. This famous airstrip was built by late sir Edmund
Hillary with the help of local sherpas in1967. Buddha Lodge was started in 1971 by late Ang Tshering Sherpa, a
noted himalayan guide who took numerous exploration in the Himalayas with late American explorer Barry Bishop. Today the lodge
is managed and operated by the youngest son Larke Tshering Sherpa and has still retained its unique character and charm.
Larke is currently the flight manager for Sita Airlines, a reliable domestic carrier which flies in and out of lukla.
